Maimeri Puro Superior Oil Colors
Oil paint in its purest form: the embodiment of Maimeri’s research to create the perfect color. Each of the colors in the Maimeri Puro range is individually calibrated and tested for 83 harmoniously balanced shades with an excellent chromatic result. The goal was to achieve the ideal relationship among the ingredients that compose a perfect oil paint.
Features
A complete superior oil range of only single-pigment colors for the widest range of mixing capabilities: developed to go above and beyond a professional oil paint.
A collection of carefully selected and unique single-pigment colors allow for an infinite number of sharp, brilliant hues with clean undertones. Each shade features an incredible chromatic balance and extraordinary brightness. The purity of materials allows for intense changes in shade.
Maximum Pigment Concentration
Each tube features the maximum concentration of pigment for an oil color, which varies from color to color according to the particular characteristics of the pigment.
Maimeri Puro features genuine pigments including:
- 10 cadmiums: 4 yellows and 6 oranges & reds
- 13 cobalts: 1 turquoise, 3 greens, 6 blues, 2 violets and 1 yellow
- 2 chrome greens
- 12 natural earths & ochres from Italian quarries
Max Lightfastness of the Entire Range of 83 Colors
Maimeri uses 3* rating for maximum lightfastness. All Maimeri Puro colors are rated ***
Each color in the range is processed according to the individual characteristics of the pigment. Organic & synthetic inorganic pigments are triple milled while natural inorganic pigments (the earths) are milled five times.
Purity – Oil and Pigment, Nothing Else
Formulated without any additives, this Superior oil range features the perfect ratio of ingredients to maintain stability and vibrancy of the highest quality pigments. Each color is processed according to the individual characteristics of the pigment.
All colors are milled up to 5 times according to the individual pigment to achieve an average particle size of 5 microns. The small particle sizes provide optimal light refraction to allow the most brilliant colors.
Maximum Degree of Purity, Including the Quality of Semi-Drying Oils
All the colors are produced with safflower and poppy seed oils, which are both less yellowing than linseed oil. The oils featured in the formulation of Maimeri Puro ensure maximum chromatic yield and brilliance: colors will remain stable over time and provide a highly elastic paint with exceptional vividness.
Dry times vary according to specific characteristics of each pigment. The dry times for each color are indicated on the color chart (assuming the same thickness and conditions of the applied paint).
The Range
83 colors available in 40ml tubes and 3 whites in 80ml tubes, each with a hand-painted swatch (on real canvas) adhered to the individual tube.
Mediums allow colors to be deconcentrated or modified without affecting the quality of Maimeri Puro oil color.
2 mediums in 75ml bottles: Glazing Medium and Safflower Oil
A dense fluid composed of a non-yellowing alkyd resin, which is mildly siccative to reduce the drying time of colors. It imparts exceptional brilliance, transparency and elasticity.
Semi siccative, non-yellowing and used to soften and reduce the consistency of oil colors.
2 mediums in 40ml tubes: Colorless Medium and Coarse Colorless Medium
A neutral unpigmented paste that is used for enhancing the flow, thinning tints and emphasizing the depth of thinned colors. It also works well for blending on surfaces when working wet on dry.
A neutral unpigmented paste that increases the particle size of the paint, allowing for impasto techniques. Both colorless mediums emphasize the undertone of the tints without affecting their cleanness or brightness.
Full Maimeri Puro Color Chart includes opacity, lightfastness as well as drying time ratings
First application: 100% Maimeri Puro Color. Maimeri Puro tints are highly concentrated so some colors appear very dark when they are used in their purest form.
Second application: 50% Maimeri Puro Color + 50% Colorless Medium, i.e. a neutral unpigmented paste. This medium is used for thinning the tints, enhancing the flow and emphasizing the depth of the thinned color.
Third application: 10% Maimeri Puro Color + 90% Glazing Medium to emphasize the sheen of the tint and the different degrees of opacity between colors.
Fourth application: 50% Maimeri Puro Color + 50% Titanium White to emphasize the undertone of the tint and highlight the concentration.
